Before you start
- Stand in front of a plain, light wall. White for US documents. No patterns, doors or shadows.
- Face a window or soft light. Light should fall evenly on both sides of your face.
- Ask someone to take it from 1–1.5 m away at eye level. A selfie at arm's length can distort your face.
- Glasses off, hair away from your eyes, neutral face, mouth closed.
- Turn off beauty mode and filters in your camera app.
