Why won't a website accept my iPhone photo?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Many government, visa and job portals only accept JPG or PNG. Converting the file to JPG fixes it.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC photos?
Open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG.
Does converting reduce quality?
At the default 92% quality the difference isn't visible. Choose PNG if you need a lossless file, but it will be much larger.
